Swarm gamifies their push notifications to drive engagement and check-ins
In this example, Swarm sent a push notification as an extension of their gamified user experience. Once a user hasn’t checked-in often enough after being awarded “Mayor” of a location, the user gets ousted, which often leads to a check-in battle between the loyal patrons of an establishment.
Why we think this push notification is good:
Gamification is a very powerful design pattern, where if it makes sense and conveyed properly in the product experience, can lead to added benefits of higher engagement and retention of a user base. With Swarm, the copy is clear and simple, you’ve been dethroned, and you need to do something to reclaim your mayorship. Makes for a fun user experience and drivers loyalty towards brick and mortar establishments as well.
