Instagram sends push notifications when a user has started a live video
Instagram, owned by Facebook is one of the leading social media apps today. In this example, Instagram sent a push notification letting their user know that someone they’re following started a live video.
Why we think this push notification is good:
In this day of age, with ephemeral and live social media apps rising in prominence, having a push notification strategy support that is important in driving usage and visibility. With Live Video being one of Instagram’s newer features, giving that new visibility to reach mass adoption was wise of their Growth team to implement. In the future, allowing the user to denote who they get notifications from for live video would help this feature become more useful instead of a blanket approach for everyone.
