Dictionary.com app sends push notifications to help you build your vocabulary
Dictionary.com is the world’s leading dictionary product on web and mobile. In this example, they sent a push notification to send their “word of the day” to help expand their user’s vocabulary.
Why we think this is a good push notification:
Outside of the utility of being an app that helps you define words you might not already know where you would seek (“pull”) a definition, here, their app “pushes” their word of the day to help you broaden your vocabulary and also engage with the app by forcing the user to click through. This is a clever use of push notifications and a great way to build a habit for daily use, as well as increase the engagement and utility of their app.
