A/B Test Idea: Creating a Prominent Sales Section

It doesn’t take a qualitative research survey to understand that online shoppers prefer to buy discounted products and immediately look for sales or deals. Additionally, a report from Episerver shows that 18 percent of your visitors are likely to look for a sales section on your site before anything else.

While you want to maximize profits with your e-commerce business, it would be best to experiment with sale campaigns to attract more conversions.

Here, we’ll take a look at how Best Buy has perfected the art of creating a sale section on its website.

Best Buy has a dedicated sales section on its website. The section features a prominent banner with the name “Deals” in large, bold letters.

There’s also a subheading that reads “Save on the hottest tech.” The background of the banner is bright red, which stands out against the white background. This provides a contrast that makes the section more noticeable.

The experiment:

For this experiment, some variables you can tweak are:

  • How the sales section is organized
  • Adding filters for popular brands according to your internal data
  • Dividing it into sub-categories

The sales section is divided into categories that make it easy to find deals on specific items. You’ll find categories like “Favorite Tech” and “Home, Kitchen & Fitness.” You can also find deals based on brands. For instance, there are sections with deals on Samsung and Microsoft products On the left-hand side, you’ll find a search filter that allows you to filter the deals by category. This filter also lets you filter deals by brand, discount and price.

This makes it easy for customers to find what they’re looking for. It also makes it easier for customers to compare deals on different items.

Why we think this is a Good A/B Test:

If you already have a clear idea that your customers are driven by deals, you can boost conversions by creating a dedicated sales section and calling attention to it above the fold on your website. Try it out and see how your revenues are affect. You can create this experiment by re-arrange elements, along with changing the link to a specific page with Taplytics’ No-Code Web Visual Editor.
